Meet the Team!

Expert care from trusted, accredited professionals

Cambridge Women’s Health was founded by Dr Susanna Unsworth in 2020 with the aim of providing expert, evidence-based menopause care in a supportive and personalised environment. As the clinic has grown, Dr Katherine Mellanby joined the team and now runs the clinic alongside Dr Unsworth. Both Dr Unsworth and Dr Mellanby are British Menopause Society-registered menopause specialists.

In 2025, Dr Madeleine Lameris also joined the team, bringing additional qualifications in menopause care and further expanding the specialist service we are able to offer.

Together, the team is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care and supporting women through every stage of menopause, from perimenopause to postmenopause.

Dr Susanna Unsworth

Hello, I’m Dr. Susanna Unsworth, a doctor with a deep commitment to supporting women’s health, with a special focus on menopause and perimenopause care.

I began my medical training at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge, graduating from the Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine in 2005. Following my early clinical work across hospitals in the Eastern region, I pursued further training in General Practice, becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2010.

Over the past 15 years, I’ve developed a strong foundation in women’s health. I currently work as a Specialist Breast Physician at the Cambridge Breast Unit, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and also serve as a Community Gynaecology Specialist GP in Essex. These roles have deepened my experience in breast health, gynaecology, and menopause care.

To further enhance my expertise, I have completed the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH). I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Gynaecology from the University of Bradford and an Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care from the FSRH.

I’m also proudly listed on the British Menopause Society Register of Menopause Specialists, reflecting my dedication to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for women.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen how often women suffer in silence, especially when it comes to menstrual and menopausal health. Many delay seeking help until symptoms become overwhelming, often feeling dismissed or overlooked by the healthcare system. That’s why I founded Cambridge Women’s Health: to create a supportive, specialist-led clinic where women can be heard, understood, and cared for with the attention they truly deserve.

Don’t suffer any longer.

Hi, I’m Dr. Katherine Mellanby, a General Practitioner with a strong passion for women’s health, particularly in the areas of menopause and contraception. My journey in medicine began at Nottingham University, where I completed my medical qualifications (BMed Sci, BMBS) in 2002. I went on to complete my GP training in London in 2010, setting the foundation for a career devoted to personalised, patient-centred care.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including London, Western Australia, and Cambridge, bringing a broad perspective to my practice. Throughout, I have maintained a dedicated focus on women’s health. I hold both the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH).

I am fully certified in the insertion and removal of contraceptive subdermal implants and intrauterine devices (IUDs). As a registered trainer for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) and a GP Trainer, I am passionate about sharing knowledge and empowering fellow healthcare professionals in the field.

I am proud to be a British Menopause Society (BMS) Registered Menopause Specialist and have completed both the Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care from the BMS and the Menopause Skills Theory Course through the FSRH.

Throughout my career, I have met countless women struggling with menopause symptoms, often for years, without access to the care or support they need. At Cambridge Women’s Health, I aim to create a welcoming, supportive space where women feel heard, understood, and empowered to take control of their health and wellbeing.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you feel your best.

Dr Madeleine Lameris

Hello, I’m Dr Madeleine Lameris and I’m delighted to have joined Susanna and Katherine at Cambridge Women’s Health. I’m a doctor and educator with the core values of connection and excellence within healthcare.

I qualified with Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2011, which provided a comprehensive training in hospital medicine. I subsequently qualified as a GP and, since 2014, have been working in the Eastern region in General Practice, with a specialist interest in women’s health, contraception, and menopause care.

I work as a Specialist Breast Physician alongside Susanna at the Cambridge Breast Unit, Addenbrooke’s hospital, supporting people with breast symptoms and diagnoses.

Like my colleagues, I hold the Diploma of the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DCSRH) and am a provider of contraceptive subdermal implants and intrauterine devices (IUDs) and a registered trainer for the college, supporting other healthcare workers to look after women in their practices.

Having worked in the private menopause sector since 2022, I hold the Menopause Care Professional Certificate and am in the process of completing my accreditation to be a British Menopause Society-registered specialist.

In my curriculum leadership role at Cambridge University’s Clinical School, I am responsible for understanding what we need our learners to learn, how we support them to learn it, and how we assess this process. I create links between different areas of teaching to ensure that we are creating future doctors equipped to care for our population. I hold a Diploma in Medical Education. I’m also privileged to be a Director of Studies for Murray Edwards College, supporting our all-female medics.

As part of my education role, I design and deliver menopause teaching across the 6 year course, and am passionate about improving undergraduate teaching in this area for all healthcare professionals across the UK.

At Cambridge Women’s Health I am joining a team committed to listening, understanding, and supporting women to make informed decisions about their health. To quote leadership expert Dr Brene Brown, “I’m here to get it right, not to be right”. I look forward to meeting you.
